The dusk of the evening drew closer as John sat in the bar. The woman had been okay but he’d insisted she go to the

hospital. After several protests, she obliged. As the day was winding down, the strange events of the day drifted further

from John’s mind and he settled down for a quiet drink. When he got up for a second drink at the bar, the bartender refused his money.

“Compliments of the owner. “

“What?”

“He also said to give you this.”

The man slid the poker chip over. John was sure it was the same one.
