The word this week from Velvet Verbosity is Smooth.
Rising
The mat was smooth. Her face was pressed against it as she tried to get up. She heard counting. She had to get up but she couldn’t move. She had to move or it was over. 5… It was like she was in slow motion and everything around her was going too fast. 4… Her body was moving now. If she waited any longer the fight was over. 3… She rose to her feet, her guard raised. The referee let her continue and her opponent swung. Without thinking she dodged and punched back, right jab, left hook and her opponent went down.
