100 Words – Expecting


The prompt this from Tara R time is ‘Sorry’.

Expecting

“Sorry, I’m not what you were expecting.”

He sat down across from her and took off his scarf. He was larger than the average male but not as large as he clearly thought he was. His eyes showed intelligence and kindness but no confidence and he dressed as if dearly hoping no one would ever see him. When he smiled at her she saw a passion in his eyes. He was a lion who appeared as a sheep and he didn’t realise it yet.

“Don’t worry,” she replied, a little fascinated. “No one is ever what anyone expects of them.”
